Learning New trick AND Meet my boyfriend "Patton"

Hey Everyone!! I have so much to update you all on but for tonight im going to leave it to TWO pictures and a VIDEO! So this is Patton my Viszla boyfriend... Yes yes I know I am bigger than him!! but still I love him and he is my best friend. He is only 1.5 months older than me so we get along so well. I dont think he understand why im getting so much bigger than him so fast though! Anyways. We love to go to the bark park together and also go on long walks in new and fun places!!

Secondly... I randomly did a cool trick for mommy today and supposidly its something that she actually wants me to do so shekept teaching me and now I know how to "kind of" pivot from "front" to "heel" positions. And mommy and I swear that I was doing this trick perfectly until she turned on the camera.. but near the end I get really good again. Mommy was so happy with me that she started tearing up!! I seem to learn tricks and obedience quickly so she is super proud! Anyways here is the video!

I'm a Dane and I CAN Fetch!

Sooo..... Mommy has something to say....

MY DANE CAN FETCH!!! I dont care whateveryone else says!!

So when I got my Dane EVERYONE on earth told me I would never get my dane to fetch.. but guess what all you nay-sayers (not sure if that is how its spelled our or whatever).... Nova CAN fetch and she is getting pretty good at it!!

I guess cant listen to everything that people tell me... (that is a no brainer)

I do have to say though.. that from the beginning.. everytime we pass by some one on the street or whatever, they always want to give me advice on my Great Dane yet they dont have one of their own and therefore never researched the breed.. Well boo on you on all those people who dont know what they are talking about (which is NO ONE on bloggie world!)

So we are so glad Nova is having fun with all her fetching!! I hope that she keeps with it and wants to Fetch forever!! We will see!

Hey everyone! So mommy has had some weird stuff going on lately. First we recieved a gift and it was an awesome christmas tree orniment and soon after we found out mommy's Aunty sent this to us!! (How sweet right?!!?)
Well I bring that up because it seems someone sent us what looks to be like a Halloween gift. We got a small and a large log doggy mummy!! They are super squeeky and super amazing!! These are absolutly our favorite toys!

I dont know who to thank for these or where they came from.. but I wanted to say thank you and I hope that we will find who gave these to us so we can thank them personally!! 

So Me and little sissy got wonderful stuffie halloween gifts and we are very happy and thankful!!

I want to be Rebellious

Okay so today was an extremely bad day!! Mommy took me on a walk and I did horrible!!!! Then I was bad in the house all day unless I was napping. Then I went on another walk with my doggie friend Patton and I made mommy even more mad.

(and as mommy is typing this up for me I am not put away in my bad spot because I was just bad AGAIN!!!!)

I dont feel like listening to mommy at all today and I want to ignore every word she says... so that is exactly what I did.. Mommy said that if I have another day like this I am going up on Craigslist.org.... (she was joking though)... Anyways.. today was a bad day and mommy cant wait until its over!!!

Trick-And-Treat Time!

Hello all! I am so sorry I havent been around much lately. My mommy started training for her new job and she has been too busy studying some nights. So today I am 18 Weeks old today so I am slowly making my milestones! So since I have missed so much I am just going o post a video of me that mommy made last night! I hope you all enjoy!

Long time no Bark!!

Hey Everyone.. Its me NOVA.. I just really wanted to show off a picture of my sissy, Teagan, today!! Isnt she a super cute pup? Where ever we go she still gets all the attention because everyone cannot stand but love little tiny tiny dogs. Mommy tells me she still has never seen a Chi smaller than my sissy and I havent either! People are suprised to know that she is almost two years old and so small!!

But anyways.. more about me! Life has been calming down since all of my friend's humans are back to work and in school and things.. So mommy and I get to go on lots of long walks alone and we have to do a lot of stopping and going.. she says its something im doing and so she makes me stop.. have any of you other pups heard of the word "pulling"? I am trying to figure out what that is.. but everytime I do it mommy makes me stop and then when I gain focus we get to start walking again. Mommy has been doing so much better with me because she has realized that I cant know everything and get everything the first try (especially walking with all these cool things aroudn!!) I am sure she always know this but she just needed to get a handle on it!

So, yesterday I saw these little tiny humans and I absolutly hated it! do you know what im talking about pups?? CHILDREN... Mommy knows that I need to meet a lot of people and see knew things but mommy doesnt know a lot of these children people.. I dont know what makes them so different but I dont like them much. Im super shy around them and I freeze up and just chill out beside mommy (even in the bark park with all my puppy friends). Mommy needs a little help you guys, so if you have any advice for her on how she can get me to like these little tiny people.. please let her know all about it! She knows that she cant force me to like them and that she shouldnt reasure me when im so scared but she needs help! She has tried letting the children feed me treats and by the second time they fed me treats I wouldnt even take them I was so scared!!

So lastly, (since this is so long) The Bark in the Park event was put off due to rain and it will be on Oct 24th! So thank goodness mommy is still going to take me.. but she wont be able to take Teagan ( sad face) because she cannot handle us both without daddy here. (Daddy is on a huge ship sailing around the ocean doing his job with the Navy) So... mommy is super upset about it.. but she does feel like I need the socialization and it will get me some major exercise.

So that is all for today. I am still hasseling mommy to put up more videos of me on here! So Sorry she hasnt done that yet!

 Hello All!! So tomorrow is the BIG FUN Bark in the Park day tomorrow! I really have no idea what we are doing there yet but mommy says we are going to be able to meet a WHOLE BUNCH of Great Danes and Many Many other breeds! She seems more excited than me but tomorrow im sure my tail will be wagging too!!

EcoPure Nautrals Dog Treats

Okay so secondly my mommy brought me home these wonderful yummies today and wanted to know if anyone else has tried them. She bought three different kinds: Rasberry Pumpkin, Apply Peanut Butter, and Papya Cranberry. We would first really like to know if someone else has used these and what they thought of them.
For what I think... I LOVE THEM!!! They are soo soo yummy.. I always want one and when im not eating one I am thinking about when mommy gives me another one.. And and and.. guess what!!!?!? I COME WHEN MOMMY CALLS ME with these treats! and not just anywhere.. but even in the Dog Park that is at our house even when doggies are in there playing with me! Can you believe it?!?! I think this treat is really helping mommy because she was getting super upset that she couldnt get me to come when she called me.. She usually has to wait until another puppy run back to the top of te dog park and then I just follow along and mommy gets me! So we love these!

So I am pretty sure I dont have to introduce who this is but if you are not as into Great Danes as I am then maybe you dont know Honey the Dane and her Human Hsin-Yi. I first found Honey on youtube when I was looking into getting a Dane and lets just say... Honey and her Human had me sold on getting a great Dane. I watched all her videos before I adopted my baby dane Nova. I really got interested in clicker training and just learning how to give the best life to My Dane, My Chi, Hubby, and Me by having a well behaved Giant Dog.

So anyways that is my intro about my absolute favorite Dane and absolute Favorite Blogger/youtuber. I enjoy all that Honey and her Human do together and appreciate everything that they do for the doggie community asking all the crazy questions that we have and they take the time to answer..

But the whole reason I brought this up is because I have to admit something! I am not into famous actors and actresses and celebrities.. BUT... Honey and her Human are my equivelent of celebrities! (and I think they are in this community). I get all giddy when they post a new blog and when they come over to my channel and help me out and just check out what is going on with Nova.

Hey pup lovers! I justed wanted to start out by saying im the BIG 3-3-3.. If you dont know what that is well its a bunch of threes.. and supposidly my age today is 3-3-3 and Mommy says that is her favorite number so today is supposed to be a good day!

I have a couple subjects today.. so here we go!

1st... Mommy is teaching me some more loose leach walking and she found a great little training session on youtube that she loved so much because it is working with me! (I am pretty good about LLW already but I have my moment and when there are distractions then I gett a little "Zoomy". So here is the video she saw on Loose Leash Walking.

2nd.. Im learning a lot of new tricks and refining on all of the ones I already know.. I dont see why, I think im pretty perfect but mommy says we need to work on some things. I am mostly working on Targeting and hopefully Mommy will have a video up about targeting soon!

3rd... I will be going to my first Dog Party this weekend! Its on Sunday and Mommy says its called "Bark In The Park". There are going to be some super fun stuff going on and you can see what we are doing on the link! Wordless Wednesday #5

Happy 16 Weeks Old To Me!

Okay so First, this picture! I know it looks like im just stretching but im actually doing my "Thank you" trick and not looking at mommy.. But I did get a treat! Mommy always tries to take pics of me doing my tricks but she cant always get them on camera because she is doing to much at one time! so she finally got this picture!

Second, Mommy took me on a super long walk today! it was so much fun! We have a park (little play ground and basball field) right beside our home and it has a 1.3 mile paved sidewalk around it. So we did that and then we went around the lake that is across the road from our home. And guess what?!?!!? I did awesome at loose leash walking!!! I do have these zoomie moments but momy thinks its from changing from one kind of ground to another.. but I do great on pavement!!

and lastly today I have started sleeping in mommy and daddy's room on the floor near them! I really really love it because I can be in there with the family and I dont cry when the alarm goes off in the morning! Mommy said its just a trial run but I dont wake up or pee/poo or chew on anything. Mommy still gates me up in a small space so I cant make a mess just in case I wake up but she says im doing well!

15.4 Weeks Old

Alrighty! So when I first introduced Mommy and Teagan there were only two doggies following me so here is a picture of Momy and Me that Daddy caught on camera! If you can tell I am actually on the couch.. which is a totall "no-no" but mommy just couldnt help herself.. Mommy actually thinks I dont even remember getting up on the sofa with her because I was SOOOOOOO tired because I havent even tried to get on the couch. So I hope everyone else is having a happy-snuggly Monday!

I learned something new!



This was me at 12 weeks.

 Hello Bloggy pups!! Time for another update! So after finally joining Danes Online Forum I found out that I am NOT aloud to be on Large Breed puppy food and mommy found a place near by that sells Innova Dog Food...and Innova is only one of the very few Large Breed Puppy food that I am aloud to eat.. so.. Mommy scratched the other two foods off the list and is going with Innova.. for Nova! yay. She was really upset to find that she has not been feeding the best kibble she could for me but other Dane owners says I still have time and not to worry too much.


Oh one fun thing we did was learn a new command! Mommy taught it to me yesterday and it only took ONE ten minute session! My gosh! I love when I learn things fast because then mommy is so so proud of me. So I am really good at "targeting" things. If mommy says "touch" then I touch with my paws and if mommy says "mouth" I nose the object. So mommy watched a youtube video on teaching me to do the "head down" command. Mommy doesnt say head down though.. she says "are you tired" and she has a hand command for me.
I know that I should be able to do a command with just mommy telling me what to do but I understand hand gestures SOOOOOOOOO much faster and mommy doesnt mind since we will never be doing any kind of show work. We will get into a bunch of tun obedience classes and such but mommy is really impressed that I can do all my obedience and tricks with just a flick of the hand and she doesnt even have to say a word!

So anyways.. I will get mommy to put a video up tomorrow OR soon showing you my "are you tired" trick!

Nova

I had a BAD DAY (Please read! Need a little advice!)

 

This was last week but we loved it so much that we got mommy to pick this one!

I know, I know Fridays are supposed to be the best day of the week but this Friday was not good and mommy was not happy with me today!
First I had a really bad night in my crate. I woke mommy up twice and she has been getting no sleep already so she was really upset with me. She ended up coming out and sleeping on the sofa so that I would stop crying and go back to sleep. So we woke up at 8am like always and I got to play in the bark park for a little while.
Later on mommy had to clean the house so she had to put the baby gate up in the living room and I didnt like that either!! I cried and cried and cried and cried.. Even though I had all my toys, my bed, and my crate... So mommy tried to do some training with me to get me to like the living room by myself but it didnt work. So I stressed out mommy with that too.
Later on that night we went to the Bark Park to hang out with all my buddies and I wouldnt stop eating sticks, licking dirt, and sticking my nose in poo... and mommy gets really mad because she calls my name I dont look at her at all...
Lastly.. (hopefully)... I usually go to the door and let mommy know that I have to peepee or booboo but tonight I just went to the door and peed (even though I had just gone out and peed 2 hours earlier!)

So as you can tell I had a really bad day and mommy was not happy with me at all. Something you should know about mommy, she is NOT the most patient person but she has gotten really good with her patience since I came into her life. BUT when I have days like this mommy just doesnt know what to do or how to not be soooo angry!

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Wordless Wednesday #4

I am an extremely busy Pup!

First of all, this is NOT me sitting in my sissy's Bed!! No matter what mom says or what ths looks like that is not it.. but if it was.. I have to defend myself! Mommy and Daddy get up at 4am every morning because Daddy has to go to work at 5am so I do some crazy tired acts between 4am and 5am! Okay okay.. So today I went to the Vet and the ladies there were in AWWW at me! They told mommy that I am VERY well trained and that she and I were doing great with training! I also went to the pool today (I of course didnt get in but I got to see what it was all about and eat some sticks.) Oh and we have so much fun on our nightly bark park fun and walk. We walked with six other dogs today and we had so many people comment on how many dogs where walking int he same group! What can I say? we are very likeable!

Lastly, Mom has been posting weekly progress photos in the "About Nova" page so that everyone can see my weekly progress in growth! Alright that is all!

Long Hikes and Sissy Update

Hey Pups and animal lovers! I had to update you (even though mom hasnt taken pictures in a week and I have done so much!!) Today we went on a LONG hike with my friend Duke and his mom Lisa. They live next to us and we hang out a lot. We do a lot of training together (as far as loose leash walking). So today Duke came over and wanted to know if we wanted to go to the local park that has hiking trails, and of course I wagged my tail and grabbed my lead! It was right down the road so I know mommy appreciates that! The hike we went on was about 3 miles long and it was around the Resevoir that we cannot swim in (thank God! I hate water!!) For most of the hike mommy  had me on my lead to teach me loose leash walking even though I was sooooo excited at all the new smells but near the end she let me off the lead and I stayed with her BETTER when I was off my lead than if I was on it. If she stoped I stoped, if I even got 5 inches ahead of her side I stoped and came back! Mommy was super proud of me but super nervous (she calmed down after I proved to her that I was a good walker) And dont worry dog lovers, Mommy would never do no leash walking in public or around any roads!

On another note, Teagan, my sissy, is now acting funny and mommy thinks she is sick now. She doesnt know what it is because she is on all her preventions and doesnt think that she could have gotten the round worms I had a week and a half ago. Mommy did switch her food to soft food because she was not eating as much since I joined the family. Mommy knew Teagan couldnt resist the yummy wet food but today when she didnt eat she got nervous. She also wouldnt eat any treats, no human food (she doesnt ever get human food but mommy wanted to see if that would tempt her enough to eat something), and she didnt even get excited when mommy said "Teagan, Lets go Bye Bye in the Car!".... So Mommy might take her to the vet with us tomorrow to see if they could look at her.. OH yeah oh yeah.. and mommy took her temp and it was not too high.

So that is all for today!! My 15 week old pictures will be up tomorrow to look out for them!

Mommy finally put a video together of most of my tricks! (This video was made at 14.4 weeks old) I know a lot of you Great Dane owners will notice that Mom taught me under-the-leg-tricks.. Dont worry.. she knows she wont be able to use these forever and I am learning alternate things for when I get older!! But anyways, these are most of my tricks. Mom says she is trying to put together my obedience training in a video but its harder to do because its all around the house and we train in "real life situations" and not in front of the camera in the living room.. But she is working on it pups!

Haha! So yesterday during Doggie Bark Park time I saw a doggie that is as big as my Doggie Mommy! Wow she was huge just like my Dog Mom! She looked like a really big Dalmation, mommy said that is a "Harlequin Great Dane". She lives right across the street from us and she has a brother that is a Blue Dane. Mommy said she knew they lived right there but the owner doesnt bring them out to play with all the smaller dogs in the Bark Park.. Which makes me sad. We hope we see her again because Mommy totally forgot the camera! I went right up to Leah, that is the Harlequin Dane, and we sniffed noses. Then she went over to My Mommy and leaned her head against mommy's leg like she knew that mommy loves Great Danes. She is a really sweet Dane! So sorry I dont have pictures but if we get to play with them again we will take pictures!
